tiv© Party in Canada, to become effective on the election of his successor. That decisive step will be taken at a national convention in Ottawa shortly after the end of the present Parliamentary session, probably in June or July. There are reports that Mr Bennett will buy an estate in England and take up his residence there, but he has made no statement as to his plans. Mr Bennett, who as Prime Minister of Canada from 1930 to 1935, and since that time lias given vigorous leadership to the official Opposition in Parliament, was horn in 1870 and has been active in public life for 40 years.
