THE ELECTIONS

THOSE WHO MAY VOTE HOPES FOR EARLY POLLING The rules for the casting of votes to-morrow are simple and there 6liould he no invalid voting papers if electors follow the clearly-stated directions at the foot of each voting paper. Hamilton electors are asked to vote on the following three issues:— The Mayoralty—One name to be crossed off. The Borough Council—Not more than 12 names to be left on. Electors do not have to vote lor the full 12. The Waikato Hospital Board—Not more than two names to be left on. If more than the requisite number of candidates are voted for, the ballot paper will be set aside as invalid. If by inadvertance an elector spoils a ballot paper he may obtain another from the officer in charge of the booth. Assistance will be given to those people who cannot read or write. Voting will begin at 9.0 a.m. and the doors will close at 7.0 p.m. and no person will be allowed into the booths after that time. Company and association votes are no longer permitted. Wi\es have the same voting rigMs as their husbands, the franchise extends to both ratepayers and residents. As a heavy poll is anticipated, electors will avoid inconvenience to themselves and will assist the polling booth officials if they record their votes as early in the day as possible. The polling booths are as follows: Drill Hall. Knox Street. Liberty Hall. Rostrevor Street. Pearson's Hall, Cook Street, Hamilton East. Masonic Hall, River Road, Claudelands. Public Hall. Frankton. Methodist Hall, Maeroa. The results of the polling will be displayed on a special notice board on the verandah of the Waikato Times building, while the progress results from other centres will also be announced. The Borough Council has authorised the closing of Victoria Street in the vicinity for traffic from 7.30 p.m. to 1 i.O p.m.
