INQUIRY INTO CONDITIONS NOTED AMERICAN’S VISIT ANALYSIS OF SURVEY An Interesting visitor to the Waikato is Professor J. H. Kolb, of the College of Agriculture, University of Wisconsin, America. Professor Kolb is the leading authority In the United States of America on rural Fociology and is visiting New Zealand in an advisory capaoity to the Government in regard to the national survey of living conditions on farms. He is an author of note and on many occasions has been called upon by the American Government to investigate Federal problems. Professor Kolb, who is collaborating with the Social Science Bureau, which carried out the national survey last year, is visiting the Waikato for the purpose of analysing the schedules prepared with the object of presenting reports. While in the district he will take the opportunity of inspecting farms to obtain a knowledge of local conditions, while he will also confer with farming leaders. Professor Kolb stated this morning that possibly later there would be a conference of prominent agriculturists and farming leaders which might be asked to advise the Bureau of Social Science in regard to rural living conditions. Various dairying authorities were consulted by Professor Kolb in Hamilton this morning, and he will spend several days in the district to obtain further information.
