Auokland-London In 13 Days.— A fast journey to England is being undertaken by two Wellington business men, Messrs. F. V. Lysons and W. Higgins, who are anxious to reach London as soon as possible. Travelling by the Tasman express steamer Awate’a from Auckland to S>dney, and by Qantas and Imperial Airways from Australia to England, they expect to , be In London on the afternoon of May 22, Just on 13 days after leaving Auckland. Explosion Compensation.—Preliminary payment of £3OO (part of a claim of £1034) for the replacement of stock destroyed when the chemist’s shop of Mr R. D. Wylie, at the corner of Remuera Road and Victoria Avenue, Auckland, was wieckud following an explosion on January 9, was agreed to at yesterday’s meeting of the Auckland Electric-Power Board. The board had previously agreed to meet the cost of the reinstatements necessary to the building in terms .of the report of Uie board's architect, but the final sum has not yet been determined. Payment of £l9 18s fid has also been mode lo Sanford. Limited, in settlement of the company's claim for damage resulting from the same explosion.
