JUDGE ACHESON INVESTED MEMBERSHIP OF WAIKATO TRIBE Embodying much of the ancient ceremonial which has been practised by the Maori people throughout their history, an impressive service took place at the Ngaruawahla pa during the week-end when Judge F. u. V. t ve Land Court and Native Appellate Court, was made a member of the Waikato tribe. With hundreds of natives drawn up in the grounds of tfip pa, Taingia, the oldest living descendant of the Maori kings in the female line, came forward to confer the honour on Judge Acheson. The cliieftainess placed a korowai over the shoulders of tlie judge who was acclaimed by the assembled Maoris.
