LOWER REVENUE
ACCOUNTB FOR THE YEAR I INCOME AND EXPENDITURE (Special to Time?.) WELLINGTON, Thursday. The accounts of the Railway Department covering’ operations during the year ended March 31 were published in to-day s Gazette. They showed a net revenue of £632.197, compared with £903.853 last year, and a Budget estimate of £700,000. Following is a comparison of the accounts for the last two years, showing the results of railway operation in the two islands and the aggregate tran- r sactions in respect of other services:— , f
• Decrease. For the four-weekly period ended March 31 the npf earnings were < £32.378, as against £158,870 last year, a decrease of £106,402. The gross j earnings for the period were £734,- j *2O. which is £93.776 less than in the i equivalent period last year. Expenses amounted to £682.051. an Increase of j £12.716. None of the Easter holiday , traffic fell within the period this year. ,
