TRIBUTES TO TEACHER
MISS R. GARRATT FAREWELLED SEVERAL PRESENTATIONS MADE Miss Roma Garratt, a member of the teaching staff of the Hamilton West School, who will leave this month for England, was farewelled at several enjoyable functions held yesterday at the school by the staff, pupils, and the Parents' Association. At a morning tea arranged by the teaching staff, tribute to Miss Garratt's services was paid by the headmaster, Mr L. J. Mark, who expressed to her the best wishes of those present, in presenting her with a handbag and compact. In the afternoon in the presence of the school pupils, the senior prefect, Audrey Waddell, made the presentation of a blue leather suitcase and hatbox to Miss Garratt on behalf of the parents and the children. Later the guest-of-honour and parents of the pupils were entertained at afternoon tea by the Parents' Association. The president. Mrs W. S. Dingle, paid tribute to the services rendered by Miss Garratt to the association and the school, and presented her with a rug. Mr A. M. Bisley also eulogised the work and ability of Miss Garratt and spoke of her long association with the school.
