WAIKATO RACING CLUB! REVIEW OF LAST SEASON MANY COURSE IMPROVEMENTS A very successful year was reviewed at the annual meeting of the Waikato Racing club to-day, when the president. Mr. F. R. Seddon. presided over a good attendance of members. In seconding the adoption of the annual report (previously published) moved by the president. Mr. A. E. Manning compared the balance-sheet with the previous year’s figures and stated that the club could be congratulated on a very successful year. One of the features of the season was the manner in which the club had looked after the interests of owners. Besides materially increasing the slakes and reducing the nomination and acceptance fees by 20 per cent., the club had made many improvements to the course. " Last year we spent £1531 In course Improvements compared with £B3l last year,” added Mr. Manning. “Of this amount £6OO was spent on laying down a new track. Repairs and maintenance were £1752 compared with £532 last season and some of this Increase was also spent on track Improvements. Government taxation accounted for £IB.OOO last season, this again being a large Increase on the previous year's figures, while the stakes had increased by about £3300.’* Gratification of Owners *1 In referring to £SOO for debenture repayment reserve, Mr. Manning said the mortgagees and debenture-holders had stood by the club during the bad times and it would be the club’s earnest endeavour to relieve them of their responsibilities as soon as possible. He thought the members would be Justified in looking forward to another successful year this season. " As an owner I wish to thank thg club for the manner In which they have catered for the owners during the season,” commented Mr. W. R. Shattock, who stated that the Improvements to the tracks were greatly appreciated by all owners and trainers. He added that the trainers were more than satisfied with the treatment they had received and they were also of the opinion that the various tracks were well-nigh perfect. Mr. Shattock then offered the club a similar trophy to the one he gave last season, a canteen of cutlery, and this was accepted with acclamation. The following officers were declared elected unopposed:—President, Mr. F. R. Seddon; vice-president, Mr. A. Miller; committee, Messrs. P. H. Clarkln, T. Clarkin. A. E. Manning. C. Potts, R. T.
