MAKING A FITTING STAND
There are' many amateur dressmakers who have some difficulty In fitting their dresses correctly. Here is an easily-made dress stand. Make a frame - consisting of an upright piece of wood, the exact length of your figure. Fasten at the foot to a heavy board about 18 inches square; make a mark on the upright to represent shoulder-line of figure. Nail a thin piece of board the exact width at the shoulder-line. Over this frame a well-fitting onepiece frock Is slipped on and tied with a running string from the hem to the bottom of the upright, stuff the frock with strips of paper until the figure Is well padded out and adjusted to correspond with measurement of the figure. When properly stuffed wrap a pair of corsets around the figure?. This frame will prove a boon to country women.—An exchange
