MARRIAGE TO FILM PLAYER CANNOT AFFORD FAMILY HOME Miss Virginia Cherriil. American film star and former leading lady to Charlie Chaplin, recently married the wife of the ninth Earl of Jersey, the bearer of three 17th-century titles. Lord Jersey is 2 7 and his bride 29. “We shall live In London in my Farm Street house.’* said Lord Jersey to the representative of a London paper. "We cannot afford to live at the family home at Osterley Park, near Hounslow—there is just a caretaker there, but 1 expect we shall go down there from time to time.” ”Jt is a year since we met ...” continued Lord Jersey. “Yes, at a party. No, it was not love at first sight, but very nearly that,” chimed in Miss Cherriil. “Other than living In London we have no plans,” said Lord Jersey. The first was the singer, Anastasia Robinson, who In 1722 became the wife of the third Earl of Peterborough. Miss Cherriil was born at Carthage, Illinois. She was formerly married to Cary Grant, the aotor, but the marriage was dissolved in 1935 after two years. Lord Jersey is a banker. In 1932 ho married Miss Patricia Richards, of Contamundra, New South Wales, who obtained a divorce.
