NEW ZEALAND PLAYERS WIN LAST MATCH OF TOUR METROPOLITAN TEAM BEATEN United Press Assn.—Elec. Tel. Copyright. SYDNEY, August 26 Playing the last match of the'lr tout’ to-day, the New Zealand hockey team defeated a Metropolitan team by 6 goals to 0. The visitors provided a splendid exhibition against the strongest metropolitan team seen for some time. The New Zealand forwards were too fast for the local men and their play was of a standard seldom seen In Sydney. The manager of the New Zealand team, Mr Gracie, at the conclusion of the game, said the members’ exhibition to-day was a complete answer to Australian critics who, earlier in the tour, had said the present team was not up to the standard of previous New Zealand elevens. Wilson, right back for New Zealand, played an outstanding game. The scorers were : Robertson, 2; Browne, 2; ißoughton and Watson, 1 each. $ Some of the players will return to New Zealand by the Awatea to-mor-row. and the rest by the Wanganella on Saturday. Of the 20 matches played on the tour, the New Zealand team won 16, three being lost and one drawn. The onlv test of the tour was won by New' Zealand by 1 goal to 0. The touring team scored 95 goals and had 24 registered against it.
