HORSES AT NGARUAWAHIA The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile' Agency Company, Limited, Hamilton, report as follows on their Ngaruawahia horse fair held yesterday:— The entry was fairly large and representative ,of all classes. Bidding, however, was rather disappointing, a good proportion of the offering not reaching vendors’ reserves. There was, despite this, a large gathering of buyers. A numbe'r sold and the money paid would he about equal value to those obtained at other horse fairs during the last few weeks. Medium farm draughts made £27 to £33 10s; more aged and lighte'r weight farm horses,.£l9 to £26; aged and inferior class draughts, £l3* to £l7 10s; good hacks, £8 to £lO 10s; others up to £7 10s; light unbroken horses, £lO to £l4.
MATAMATA QUOTATIONS Messrs Dalgety and Company, Ltd., report having held their fortnightly stock sale at Matamata yesterday, when there was an average yarding of cattle, which sold at late rates. \ll good ’ quality were keenly competed for. Following are the range of prices: Heavy fat cows £lO 5s to £li 7s 6d, medium £7 15s to £9 15s, light £5 5s to £6 10s; heavy fat heifers £9 5s to £l2 ss, medium £7 to £8 2s 6d, light and unfinished £4 10s to £5 15s; store cows, £4 to £5 2s 6d; heavy boner cows £3 10s to £4 2s 6d, ligiit £2 10s to £3; two-year empty Jersey heifers £4 to £4 12s 6d, others £3 to £3 15s; yearling Jersey heifers, £4 to £4 Bs. Dairy cattle: Medium quality springing Jersey heifers £7 to £7 ss, others £5 10s to £G ss; dairy cows, Jersey £7 to £7 10s, others £5 10s to £O. Sheep: Fat wethers, £2; fat hoggets, 27s to £1 11s 3d. Only a medium yarding of fat pigs came forward with a full yarding of stores and woaners. Fat pigs showed a slight decrease on late quotations. Stores and wcaners were on a par with recent quotations. Medium heavy baconers made £3 10s to £3 15s, medium £3 5s to £3 10s. light £2 18s to £3 ss; heavy porkers £2 10s to £2 18s, medium £2 2s to £2 10s, light 36s to £2 2s; large store pigs 30s to 365, medium 25s to 30s, small 20s to 255; best >slipß 20s lo 265. medium 18s to 225; best weaners 2is to 80s, small 14s to 20s; choppers, £2. 10s to £2 18s; sows to farrow, £3 IQs to £4 15s.
