Copyright NEW YORK, August 24 The Welsh heavy-weight boxeT Tommy Farr continued his training to-day in preparation for his match against Joe Louis on Thursday. A blow from his sparring partner slightly reopened the gash under Farr’s right eye, Inflicted whe’n he was sparring last Thursday. The bleeding, soon stopped, howver, and Farr continued working after the application of sticking plaster. His trainer said the injury was not serious.

TRIBUTE TO TOMMY FARR United Press Assn.—Elec. Tel. Copyright LONDON, August 24 Mr Farr was “ a perfect gentleman,” Miss Mary Margaret Crowley, aged 16, of Slough, Buckinghamshire, told a pressman. She was referring to Tommy Farr, the boxer, against whom she was awarded £35 damages and costs at Windsor County Court. Miss Crowley was knocked down by Farr’s oar while cycling. “ As I lay in the wet road, he put his coat over me and did all he could to comfort me until the ambulanoe arrived,” Miss Crowley said. 11 The next day he got special permission to visit me in Windsor Hospital, nd brought me a lovely basket of fruit. He was most kind and I hope he has the best luck when he fights Louis.”

AUOKLAND CHAMPIONS. W. PURDIE BEATEN ON POINTS (Special to Times.) AUCKLAND, Thursday W. Purdie, Auckland welter-weight boxer, who was considered to have excellent prospects of representing the Dominion in that class at the next Olympic games, suffered a surprise defeat in defending his title at the conclusion of the Auckland provincial amateur boxing championships last evening when he was defeated on points by E. Estall. The new Auckland champions are as follows: Paper-weight, E. Underwood; flyweight, H. Sheridan; bantam-weight, S. Stock; feather-weight, K. Moran; light-weight, P. Kelly; welter-weight, E. Estall; Middle-weight, R. Branch; light-heavy-weight, H. E. Neale; heavy-weight, M. McHugh.
