SCHOOL CONTEST

RUGBY UNION CRITICISED NOT SUFFICIENT SUPPORT (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) WHANGAREI, Wednesday. “I do not think the New Zealand Union is pulling its weight with us in the way of finance,” said Mr P. Paterson (South Auckland), speaking at a meeting of the managers of the primary school teams competing in the Roller Mills Shield. He suggested asking the union for an annual grant of £IOO to assist in running the competition. Another manager said the grant already made was spent on balls, and he considered a separate sum should be available for this competition. Mr H. Horner (Whangarei), considered the need for lighting League propaganda in the Auckland distirct. He stressed that the League was not strong in other parts. A committee was set up to draft a letter to be sent through the Auckland Union to each sub-union.
