POOR RESPONSE

PARADES OF SHOW STOCK LEADERS TO BE PROVIDED The small percentage of animals paraded at the Waikato Agricultural and Pastoral Association’s shows was referred to by Mr W. T. Luxton at a meeting of the association .to-day. He said that last year only about half Hie exhibits were on parade owing to the wet weather conditions, many of the owners preferring not to take their stock out in Ihe rain. He thought that leaders should be provided by tlie association. Mr R. A. Hinton, the president, said it was most important that every animal should take part in the parade. This was one of Ihe main attractions at the show and with all animals in the ring it formed a very imposing display. It was agreed by Mr 11. J. Finlayson that leaders should be provided but it was necessary to formulate a suitable scheme. It would be in the association’s favour if they could obtain capable schoolboys to lead the animals and even if it cost £5 it would be money well spent. This would have to be done in order to make the parade a success. No doubt the parades had improved during the last few vears but the standard was not as high as it should be at big shows. It was decided to notify exhibitors that all animals must be paraded and that extra leaders would be provided on application to the stewards. Those present were Messrs >R. A. Hinton (president), W. L. Ranstcad (secretary), P. 11. Clarkin, W. R. J. Franklin, IT. Windsor, R. Hinton. G. Hinton. W. T. Luxton. C. Bailey. 11. J. Finlavson and A. M. McNienl. Apologies were received from Messrs W. H. Miers aud T. Martin.
