ESPIONAGE IN BRITAIN. USE OF WORKING GIRLS. THREAT TO SEND 'HOME. United Press Assn. —Elec. Tel. Copyright. LONDON, Aug. 22. With the threat of a recall to Germany hanging over them, an army of German girl office workers and domestics are working inside the Nazi espionage web in Britain. According to the Daily Herald the alieus brancli of Scotland Yard is checking up on the credentials of hundreds of people. The Home Office has learned that the girls were approached and asked to gather certain types of information, refusal being met by a threat, “ If you do not, our leaders will use their influence to have your permit to stay here withdrawn.” The information suggests that Herr Hitler has 100 key men in a secret police section here. At least two shops specialising in the sale of anti-Fascist papers and periodicals published on the Continent are under constant surveillance by Nazi agents.
