James Ferrier won the Lakes open • golf championship yesterday for the second time with a score of 297, compared with his record of 281 last year. The Australian mixed foursomes championship at Melbourne was won by M. r. Ryan and Miss Shirley Tolhurst with a score of 77. Their opponents, H. R. Payne and Miss J. Gardiner, returned a card of 82. At Seaton, Adelaide, Legh Winser won the South Australian amateur title, defeating the title-holder. Ross Sowers, 5 and 4. This Is Winser’s eighth amateur title. Fergus McMahon, for the fifth time, won the professional championship, beating Rufus Stewart, titleholder, 5 and 4. CZECHOSLOVAKIAN CHAMPIONBHIP HENRY COTTONS ACHIEVEMENT. United Press Assn.—Elec. Henry Cotton is open golf champion of Britain, Germany and Czechoslovakia, having, in bad weather, turned in rounds of GO and 68 in the' final two rounds of the Czechoslovakian championship. KINO COUNTRY TITLES. SAND EL WINS TOURNEY. (Special to Times.) TE KUITI, Sunday. The King Country golf championship, played on Saturday at the Te Kuiti Club's links, was won by Sandel, of Taumarunui, with a score of 162. The runner-up was Sterritt, of Te Awamutu, with 163, while the next best score' was returned by Sing, of Otorohanga. The morning medal round was won by Wiseman, of Te Awamutu, with a net score of 70, and the afternoon begey by Sing, 5 up. The teams’ championship was won by Te Awamutu A, with ioo2. the runner-up being Taumarunui, 1016. The' teams' handicap event was won by Otorohanga, with 859, the runnerup being Te Awamutu A, 928. HAMILTON DEFEATED. MATCH WITH TITIRANGI. (Special to Tlmcw.) AUCKLAND, Monday. By 9 games to 7, Titirnngi defeated a Hamilton team in an inter-club golf match, played at the Titirangi links during the week-end. Two rounds were played, with the following results, Titirangi players being mentioned first:— R. M. George and F. W. Lucas lost to L. J. Bryant and H. J. Radford, 2 and 1, and 1 down; R. R. McCrystal and T. Morpeth beat R. A. McKinnon and R. J. Love, 1 up and 2 up; R. B. Hardy and T. A. Taylor heat C. H. Clark and 11. Loveridge, 2 and 1, and lost, 1 down; R. L. Wilson and A. B. Joplin beat K. McLeod and 11. F. Blackie, 3 and 2 and 3 and 2; A. Shorter and E. W. Griffiths beat N. Duxfield and T. N. Pemberton, 5 and 4, and 1 up; P. Maxwell and H. J. Somervell lost to R.
