BIG EXPANSION BCHEME. DOUBLE ELECTRIC TRACKS. (Ofnclal Wireless.) RUGBY, August 21. The Great Western Railway Company has completed contracts for the construction of a double electric track from North Acton to Greenford, Middlesex, a distance of more than three miles, and for the construction of a largo car depot at Ruislip, near Uxbridge. Work win begin immediately. These are the first steps in a scheme to cost £2,500,000, which has been arranged by the Great Western Railway and the London Passenger Transport Board, in conjunction, to extend the central London tube to Ruislip, a distance of eight miles. The terms of the contract are regarded as an illustration of effective co-operation between the main railways system and London transport in expanding the transport system of the ever-growing metropolis.
