CAR HITS BUS.
SWERVED INTO A DITCH. COLLISION NEAR HOSPITAL. As a result of an accident at th« foot of Hospital Hill on May 8 when a car hit a passenger bus proceeding to Hamilton, then swerved across the road to land in a ditch. Charles Barclay Dewar, a fencer, who was driving the car, appeared In the Police Court, Hamilton, to-day, before Messrs G. W. Hyde and G. K. Sinclair, J’s.P., charged with negligent driving and was fined £2 with £2 Is 6d costs. Senior-Sergeant G. H. Lambert, who conducted the oase for the police, said defendant was on his incorrect side when the collision occurred. The bus driver had swerved slightly In an endeavour to avoid the smash, but was unable to. Defendant said that the lights of the bus had dazzled him.
