In spite of a poor showing last Thursday, when beaten by St. Constant over six furlongs, Talking Is coming along satisfactorily. It is intended to race him at the Warwick Farm meeting next Saturday. Gay Chou, winner of the Doomben Newmarket, failed at Ascot during the week but can be excused on account of the bad track. The Chanter, who arrived from Melbourne with the brilliant Ajax, and has had considerable work. Is under suspicion. Mala has worked splendidly since being taken over by Mr Alan Cooper, who purchased him for 7000 guineas- M. McCarten will ride him in the
Warwick Stakes next Saturday. The French-bred horse Genetout, who advanced to the position of second favourite for the Metropolitan Handicap after shaping well at his first start in Sydney recently, has developed a small splint. The trouble is not regarded as serious. Silver Standard, who Is getting ready for the Metropolitan Handicap is working well. Silver Standard was unlucky In the spring handicaps last year and an important success for him would be popular. Meslaravan. winner of the last Sydney Cup. who was beaten at the ! recent Maitland meeting, retains his place in the Metropolitan Handicap. Young Crusader, winner of the Metropolitan Handicap last year, who triumphed in the Exhibition Handicap at Brisbane yesterday, is pleasing Ills connections with the way he is training on.
