MEETING'B RECORD PROFIT. BAY OF PLENTY RACING CLUB. A general improvement in revenue and a record profit in the account of the club’s annual race meeting is referred to in the report of the president of the Bay of Plenty Racing Club, Mr K. J. Rennie, for the 1936-37 year. The profit made on the annual race meeting was £’2007. “A most Important development,” states the report, ‘‘has been the acquiring of another totallsator permit for the club, which now assures two race meetings each season. This was brought about by the unfortunate winding-up of the Opotikl Jockey Club. At an early date you will be asked to consider amendments to the rules to give effect to the conditions whereby the Opotikl permit was transferred to this club“An arrangement has been made with the Domain Board, providing a more satisfactory tenure and control of the racecourse by the club. This arrangement will facilitate the building scheme your committee have in view which I hope to have the opportunity to explain In detail at the annual meeting.” “I am very pleased,” Mr Rennie concludes, “to record stimulated interest in the club created by the election of 101 new members. The membership now stands at 342.” The Aocounts. The meeting account shows stakes at £2660, official fees £lOl, and salaries and wages £383. Entertainment and picnic accounted for £245, and the principal other Item on the debit side is printing, advertising and slationery, which stands at £l5B. Nominations arid acceptances brought £589 and totallsator receipts £4346. Gate receipts totalled £297, and ; members' subscriptions £339. The general account shows expenditure on racecourse Improvements at £267, and on new loose boxes and extension to totallsator building at £642. The balance in this account carried to profit and loss account is £1029. The latter account shows profit for the year carried to surplus account at £333. while Hie balance-sheet shows cash nl bank as £2616 and sundry debtors at £27.
