An Important point to he remember Is that carpets should always he kept dry. It is a mistaken Idea to use tea leaves, salt or various powders for laying the dust. Dampness j tends to destroy the colour. Benzine or some oilier 'spirit will clean a carpet effectively and quickly. if your carpet is a light colour it may appear to ho. faded, hut it is more probably due lo dust. If a plain coloured car- 1 pet appears io bo “ shading,” reverse the position of ’(lie carpet to distribute the wear.
