WOMEN’S DIVISION.
TOKOROA BRANCH. At the monthly meeting of the Tokoroa branch of the Women’s Division a competition of six plain scones was won by Miss Kidd, with Mrs Sloper second. Mrs Thomson won a memory test, which was arranged by the hostesses, Mrs Reid and Mrs Anderson. TE PUNINQA BRANCH. The Te PuDlnga branch of the Women’s Division of the Farmers’ Union held a social afternoon recently in the local hall and entertained members from the Tatuanui, Tahuna, Tauhel, Morrlnsville and Patetonga branches. The gathering had been organised to assist the branch funds. The president, Mrs E. G. Allison, In a brief speech, said she was glad to see that the function had been such a success and thanked everyono who had contributed to a most liappy and enjoyable afternoon. Mrs llenry was In charge of the organising work. Produce, cookery and faneywork stalls did good business, Mrs Mines and Mrs Martinson being in charge. The hostesses were Mrs Henry and Mrs Tordoff. Items were given by Mrs G. L. Kelk, Mrs W. Northcroft (Tatuanui), Miss A. Crow (Tauhel), Miss Dawn Allison (Te Puninga), elocution; Miss Elaine Boston, accordion Items; Misses Winnie Boston and D. Allison, solos. The various competitions resulted as follows:—Embroidered coat-hanger, Mrs Tordoff 1, Mrs Allison 2; cocoanut ice, Mrs Allison 1, Mrs Hines 2; Jumbled girls’ names, Mrs Semmens 1; car competition, Mrs Duffy 1; memory test. Mrs Tordoff 1; chocolates competition, Peter Roach 1. Afternoon tea was served by Mesdames Cooper. Henry, Boston, Woolford, Enniou, Wear and Jackson.
KORAKONUI BRANCH. The Korakoiftil branch of the Women’s Division held its monthly meeting in the Korakonui Hall recently, the president, Mrs Froggatt, presiding. There was a large attendance of members and visitors and a most enjoyable and successful afternoon was held. Mrs Neill, president of the Te Awamutu branch, and Miss Eyre, housekeeping secretary, visited the branch and read their reports on the conference. Miss Eyre also a most Interesting demonstration on making rugs out of old felt hats. Both these ladies were accorded a very hearty vote of thanks. (Mrs Orr won the stamp competition for the month and Mrs Whitfield won the prize for the marmalade. A most enjoyable afternoon tea was served, the hostesses being Mesdames McDonald, Norton, Orr and Miss Moyle.
KARAKARIKI BRANCH. The monthly meeting of the Karakariki branch of the Women’s Division of the Farmers’ Union was held recently, Mrs Magner presiding over a fair attendance of members. The meeting opened with the reading of the Creed, and the roll-call, “ The uses of a lemon,” proved very interesting. A competition was won by Mrs Maney. Mrs Magner and Mrs Buckley were delegates to the South Auckland Provincial Council, which was held in Te Awamutu recently. It was decided to send a donation from the branch to Provincial. Afternoon tea was served by the two junior members, Miss Olwyn Buckley and Miss Edie Bartels.
