FANCY DRESS DANCE.
MOTUMAOHO INSTITUTE FUNCTION A very well attended fancy dress dance organised by the Motumaoho Women’s Institute, was held in the Motumaoho hall recently. The judges of the fancy costumes were Mesdames L. W. Osborne and P. M. Hobson of Morrlnsville, who awarded the prizes as follows: — Best fancy dresses: Mrs A. Squire (Shepherdess) and Mr H. Lcnnan (Rajah). Most original costumes: Miss L. Mazengarb (Pack of ‘Cards) and Mr G. Harbottle (Two-faced Lady). Most sustained characters: Mrs Gale (Dionne Baby) and Mr L. C. Gilbert (Clown). The Dionne Quintuplets were impersonated by Mrs Gale (Emile), Mrs Gilbert (Annette), Mrs Plttams (Yvonne), Mrs Harbottle (Marie), Mrs Bowers ('Cecilie)...with Mrs G. Baker as their nurse, and Mr A. Kneehone as Dr. Dafoe. Dance music was played by the Regent Dance Orchestra. Novelty and lucky spot waltzes were won by Mr Butters and Mrs Gale, and Mr and Mrs McLeod. Mr A. Squire was M.C. Supper was served by the married ladies of the Motumaoho Women’s Institute. Among others In fancy costume were: Mesdames W. G'. Dunbar (Pierrette), H. I.ennan (Gipsy). Mucker (Dutch Girl), I. GalnTord (Highland Lass). F. G. Warren (Dutch Girls). Hurt (Coster Queen). Misses D. Freegard (Folly). Z. 'Gilbert (O.K. Sauce) ", E. Slai k (Yeh-Fu), Jean Day (Yum-Yum), A. Prig-house (Jean flatten), A. Ferguson (Tropic Night), D. Bennett (Victorian Lady), Chambers (Chinese I.ady), P. Quine (Witch), R. Johnstone (Pierrette), G. Eynon (Minuet), E. Hurt (Drummer). Among the men In Taney costume were: Messrs V. J. Mucker (Dutch Hoy), Burt (Coster King). W. G. Dunbar (Clown), W. Crump (Joker), A. Ferguson (Man with tlie Nose), K. Fagan ("Dora”). T. Hurt (King of Clubs), A. Squire (Parson), H. Baker (Jockey), W. Hurt (Oldtime Buccaneer). Among miners present were:—Mesdames L. W. Osborne, wearing primrose pinstriped silk; P. M. Hobson, cherry ninon; L. Hayward, apple green chat-meuse and silver lame; A. S. Wild, almond green rayon crepe; A. H. Deinler, wine matalasse; R. Mcl.eod, brown maroeain; H. Luke, navy and white georgette: T. O. Stark, navy silk; S. A. Ferguson, black crepe de chine and lace; w. F. Stark, navy maroeain; T. J. O'lxmghlin, brown silk figured maroeain; V. 11. Hart, cherry faille; Corbett, black silk: N. C. Bennett, floral georgette; E. C. Hart (Tatuanui), black mousseline; A. Kirk (Tatuanui), gold lame; V. llenrikson (Tatuanui), beige maialasse; U. L. Kelk (Tatuanui), wine clre satin; M. Thomas (Pokono), C. C. Bluett; L. Lock ley, p.nlv maroeain. Misses B. Colson, black embossed velvet and sequins; N. Corbett, red organdie: M. Corbett, coronation blue organdie; B.
