The latest Bank of England returns are:— | Issue Department: Notes in circulation, £491,000,000; notc-s in the banking department, £35,400,000; other Government -securities, £187,500,000; oilier securities, £1,500,000; silver coin, nil. Banking Department: Rest, £36,600,000 ; public deposits, £88,500,000; bankers’ deposits, £88,500,000; other accounts, £30,500,000; Government securities, £107,100,000; discounts and advances, £6,200,000; other securities, £21.600,000; notes and coin, £36,800,000; ratio of reserve to llabililies, 23/96. The Bank of England discount rate remains unchanged at 2 per cent.
