TROTTING

WAIKATO TROTTING CLUB. A SUCCESSFUL SEASON. A profit of £992 19a 7d is disclosed in the annual statement of receipts and expenditure of the Waikato Trotting Club for the 1936-37 season. In his annual review the president, Mr R. T. Reid, congratulates the committee on the success of the season’s operations. Three permits were granted the club for the season and each meeting proved an outstanding success.

Stakes were progressively increased during the year and this was reflected in the high average fields obtaining at the various gatherings. The club’s liabilities were considerably reduced during the period under review and they could look forward, the report comments, to the ensuing year with confidence. It would be necessary to increase the accommodation available for horsemen owing to the increased number of horses competing at the club’s meetings and this matter would receive the consideration of the incoming committee. The season closed with a membership of 183. Several resignations were received and regret at the death of four members is placed on record, Messrs. T. Tyne, C. Morley, J. T. Graham and S. V. Tyler. Slakes Amount to £2965. Stakes distributed during the season amounted to £2965, while Government taxation ran into £3908 10s 6d. Printing and advertising is shown at £340 13s, dirt track at £144 12s, and general expenses £33 5s lOd. Course upkeep accounted for £274. Members’ subscriptions brought in £lB2 and totalisator receipts amounted to £Bl9l 3s 6d. nominations and acceptances £943, gates and stands £733 10s, privileges £214, and cards £332 3s lOd. The following have been nominated for the six vacancies on the committee (an election being unnecessary): Messrs. R. T. Reid, G. Jew, McL. T. Clephane, E. J. Swann, W. Perrin and R. A. Hinton.
