VOICE IN MANAGEMENT.

SHAREHOLDERS’ MEETING. APPROVAL OF REMITS. PRICE OF CEMENT. Remits passed at the annual oonference of committeemen were considered at the annual meeting of ths New Zealand Co-operative Dairy Company yesterday, when the chairman of directors, Mr R. H. McKenzie, presided. Except for a remit from Dairy Flat, the remits passed by the committee were endorsed by the meeting. The report and balance sheet were adopted, after little discussion. Messrs Hutchison, Ellffe and Cameron was appointed auditors, at a fee of £6OO per annum. A remit passed at the committeemen's conference urging the company to make investigations regarding the cost of cement was discussed at length, delegates describing the present price of cement as excessive. A delegate expressed the opinion that i the oompany should seriously consider j the erection of its own cement works and to supply suppliers with cement at reasonable prices. Cement was essential, said a speaker, for the improving of yards and sheds in order to keep down cattle diseases. Excessive profits were certainly being made out of cement, said Mr McKenzie, but it would not be worth while for the oompany to erect its own cement works, a 3 overhead costs would bo too heavy. The remit was approved. A remit from a combined meeting of suppliers of Arkles Ray, Silverdale and Dairy Flat urging that the clause giving the directors power to divert supply to any branch factory be amended so as to ensure that the suppliers concerned were fully' consulted, so that their Interests and amenities might be safeguarded, was lost by a substantial majority. The meeting concluded with a vote of thanks to the chairman. Mr R. H. McKenzie, and his fellow-directors, the proposer of the motion, Mr H. J. Valentine, also referring to the work of the company's staff. A vote of thanks to the London manager of the company', Mr J. B. Wright, which was proposed by Mr W. J. Lusty, was also carried unanimously.
