LIBERATION PROGRAMME. AUCKLAND SOCIETY WORK. Liberations of pheasants in the Auckland acclimatisation district during llic coming year were discussed at, a m eel ing of the Hamilton Acclimatisation Club on ‘Wednesday, when the presideril, Mr D. f). Wilson, reported on (he new revised j liberations policy of the Auckland Acclimalisation Society. Mr Wilson reported that two-thirds Of |lie pheasants available for liberation would be allocated to the subsidiary societies, while one-third would he dealt with by Ihe game committee. The total number of birds would be about ,’IOOO. ! The question of the areas in which ' birds would he liberated had not vet i been continued by the eouneil, said Mr Wilson, but lie could say that no birds would he liberated in areas In reply to a question, (lie secretary, Mr K. A.’ McLean, said that all birds liberated by the club were released well away from the beaten track and in areas providing sufficient cover for Destruction of Hawks.
