PAKURANGA CANDIDATES. SEVERAL SMART TRIALS. ORAC AND BRYCE STREET. (By “Martian.") Several smart efforts were recorded at Te Rapa this morning, when the course proper, about 40ft. out from the rails, was in splendid order for galloping. The best exhibitions were those of May Song, Orac, Bryce Street, Solomon and Shining Spear. Gay Streak (Bowden; and Respectful (Gollop) hit out over six furlongs in 1.20. Both did their work well aid Gay Streak should perform prominently at Ellerslle. May Song (Winder) pleased by accounting for Prince Acre (Ferguson) over the concluding stages of six furlongs in 1.20}. May Song is showing the benefit of recent racing and is a definitely improved mare. A Smart Six. Bryce Street McKenzie) was shading Orac (Me Inally) at the completion of six furlongs in 1.20, the first half-mile occupying 52 4-ss. It was a useful effort on the part of both horses. Miss Clipper, the two-year-old in A. P. Brady’s stable, slipped over two furlongs along the hack in 275. Merial (Ferguson; and Royal Mistake (Winder) were associated over a round which they rar in 2.9}. They ran their first half-mile in 52 4-ss, i five furlongs in 1.8 and six in 1.21 2-5. Cadger (Thomson) and Precise ! (Winder) occupied 2.9} for a round, j the initial six furlongs being run in j 1.24}. Tosh Hits Out. Tosh (Mclnally) ran a brilliant three furlongs along the back in 35 ~-ss. He is in splendid order for pending engagements. Solomon (Tilsley) was in front of Shining Spear (Thomson) at the end of a smartly-run five furlongs which occupied 1.6 2-5, the first half-mile being cut out in 52 4-ss. Red Fox (Reilly) was in advance of DLacquedoon (Gollop) at the completion of a round in 2.G 1-5, the first six furlongs in 1.23. Kllberis (Day) was schooled twice over the pony fences and . shaped well. Riding Engagements. Additional riding engagements for the Pakuranga Hunt include:— W. Thomson.—Shining Spear. R. Gallio (Goulsbro) was first out and he was not troubled to run homo from the six furlong peg in 1.20 1-5. This colt is in excellent order to contest his engagement at Ellerslie. Loombination (Horne), with the assistance of Barricade (Goulsbro) ov*>•he last six furlongs, pleased over seven iit 1.32, the final six in 1.19. British Nation (Lewis) was hitting out over three to take 37 4-ss. This was a very creditable effort fur the son of British Empire. Tuaheahe (Goulsbro) was sent alone over seven furlongs in 1.37 i-5. He was inclined to loaf. Besiege (Goulsbro) came home from tiie half-mile peg iu 51s. The two-year-olds Bulwark (Billhead—Toronia) and Teliero (Heroic— Prodice) were sent to the barrier. Tehero jumped out nicely and was allowed to stride along for a furlong and a-Jialf. lio lias a very pleasing action and lias pace. He will make Jns first appearance in the parade on Saturday. On the plough were Celtic Lad. Gorato, Magic Land, Balanava, Tonnerre, Orate, Nugget, llluminagh, Cape Maria and First Flutter (Captain bun shy—Marche tte). Additional riders for Ellerslie are: J. 11. Mcßae, All Irish. C. G Goulsbro. Erlick, Erndale, Barricade, Gaiiio.
