DELEGATES ENTERTAINED.
COMMITTEEMEN’S CONCERT. Congratulations to the directors of the company on its present sound position were extended by committeemen of the New Zealand Co-operative Dairy Company at their annual smoke concert in the Alexandra Hall last evening. The chairman of directors, Mr R. H. McKenzie, presided over an attendance of some 400 delegates. Among the apologies reoeived were those from the Minister of Agriculture, the Hon. W. Lee Martin, Messrs A. F. Moncur, C. H. Burnett, W. J. Broadfoot, R. Coulter, A. C. A. Sexton, and C. A. Barrell, M’s.P., Sir Francis Frazer, Messrs A. E. Manning, S. Sheaf, C. M. Hume and Frank Pioot. In extending the official weloome to delegatee, the Deputy-Mayor, Mr H. D. Caro, stated that Hamilton had grown to be the most prosperous Inland town In the Dominion, through the New Zealand Co-operative Dairy Company. Hamilton was indeed fortunate, said Mr Coro, in having such a great dairying conoern in Its' distrlot, for the future welfare of the dairying Industry was bound up with the New Zealand Dairy Company. The Waikato was certainly famous for Its dairy produce, and Its present outstanding reputation was due to the operations of the big dairy company. Mr William Goodfellow, who received an ovation on rising to speak, dealt In a comprehensive manner with marketing problems and traced the rapid development of the company to Its present strong position. Guided on the one hand by the New Zealand Dairy Board and by the company’s directors on the other hand, It appeared that suppliers were facing a period of prosperity, commented Mr H. H. Sterling, formerly general manager of the company. The New Zealand Dairy Company had indeed made wonderful progress, he stated, and was now in an unchallenged position. Another speaker was Mr A. J. Murdoch, ohairman of the New Zealand Dairy Board, who congratulated the company directors on the present position of the company. Directors Return Thanks. Messrs R. H. MoKenzie, J. Dean, J. T. Young and W. E. Hale, directors who were returned for a further term on the directorate, expressed their thanks to suppliers. The successful candidate for the south-eastern ward, Mr E. D. White, also expressed his thanks; while Mr W. L. Ranstead. the other candidate for the ward, briefly thanked the suppliers for the support accorded him. An entertaining programme was contributed by the following artists: Mr Ossie Cheeseman, plano-acoordeon solos; humour, Mr Alan MoElwain; songs, Mr L. Rosenfeldt; oonjurlng, “Chandu”; cornet solos, Mr E. Houlton. Orchestral selections were also given during the evening.
