NEW FACTORY.

BUILDING AT TIRAU. OTHER PLANT RE-MODELLED. Owing to the continued growth of their business, it was necessary during the past season to make exteni sive alterations at a number of their 1 factories, with a result that the facI lories at Tuakau and Frankton were remodelled and brought right up-to-date, while extensions were also proj vided at other centres, said Mr Parlane. In addition to this it was necessary to j provide increased capacity for hand- ! ling the large and increasing quantity of blitter-fat that was offering in the i Waharoa, Tirau and’Putaruru districts, and after giving the matter very careful consideration, their directors decided to erect a new and up-to-date butter factory at Tirau. The erection of this factory was now well under way, and it was hoped ; that they would have the plant inJ stalled and the factory ready to operate before the new season was far I advanced, but unfortunately, owing to I the. difficulty in securing material, it j was impossible at the moment to in- ! dicate a definite date. The building, which was designed by the company's ; officers, had been so constructed as ! to ensure economical working, whilst i the most up-to-date plant available j would be installed. The factory would have a capacity of 5000 tons of butter per annum, which should meet the ; needs of the district in the meantime, i The site on which the factory was be--1 ing erected was originally owned by ■ the Thames Valley Co-operative Dairy Company prior to the amalgamation, i and was an ideal position for a factory, inasmuch as it provided, excellent drainage, was possessed of an , exceptionally good water supply and : a railway siding would be available 'whilst it had iht; added advantage of being located at tlie most central point in respect of cream supply.
