SAFE FOUND WRECKED.
RECENT WAIHI BURGLARY. BOOKS AND PAPERS INTACT. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) WAIHI, Wednesday. ’ Tho sequel to the burglarious entry 'of the premises of Mr. .!. Whitehead, boot Importer, and the removal of the safe containing books and documents and a small amount of silver on the evening of August 0 was the discovery of the safe, completely wrecked by explosives, in Ford, Road, about two miles from tlie township, by a farmer. The farmer was approaching along the road exercising his dogs when his attention was directed to a clump of fern and tl-tree by the ferreting of the animals. Investigation disclosed the wrecked safe, well hidden by hoaw growth, a few find off the roadside’. The books and documents were intact and closer inspection revealed threepenny pieces to Hie value of 3s in different parts of the wreck. The reward to the wreckers of aeliial cash would probably be not more Ilian 12s.
