PAKURANGA CANDIDATES. TOSH PLEASES OVER SIX. SEVERAL SMART EFFORTS. (By “ Martian.”) The going on the course proper. 35 feet out from the rails, was in splendid order at Te Rapa this morning when the semi-final gallops of horses engaged at the Pakuranga Hunt, at Ellerslie, on Saturday, took place. The best efforts of the morning were those of Tosh, Cappv and Mere Haka. Hunting Blood (Mclnally), the maiden in M. J. Carroll’s stable, brushed over three furlongs along the back in 37$s. Orac (Mclnally) and Bryce Street (McKenzie) were on terms at the completion of half-a-mile in 53 l-ss. Orac is bearing a healthy appearance and should shape well in the Jellicoe Handicap on Saturday. A Useful Six. A useful effort over six furlongs was credited to Cappv (Reilly) who was shading Mere Haka (Mclnally) at the end in 1.20. They ran their first three furlongs in 38s and the halfmile in 53is. Mere Haka is on the upgrade and It will be interesting to note how he shapes on Saturday. Gay Mary and Poland ran three furlongs' in 39is. Racemosus (Day) and Sweet Lap (Muir) ran once round in 2.11, the . first half-mile occupying 56s and six furlonga 1.24. Red Fox (Reilly) was doing better than Dlacquedoon (Gollop) over the deciding stages of a round encompassed in 2.7. The six furlongs was negotiated in 1.23 l-5s and the seven 1.36 4-ss.
