SPRINGBOKS’ BROADCAST.

SPEECH IN AFRIKAANS. CRAVEN’S EXPLANATION. (By TeJegrapn.—rress Association.) WELLINGTON, Monday. Some curiosity was expressed why D. 11. Graven, tiie Springbok captain, broadcast in Afrikaans after Saturday’s match. The reason was, when called to the microphone, he was invited to speak to South Africa, and naturally he spoke in Afrikaans, thinking the broadcast was exclusively for there. When he heard that tiie broadcast was general, and New Zealand was listening, he readily explained the position. His remarks to Africa were: ‘ Hello, South Africa. We are very sorry we disappointed you to-day, hut we hope to do better next-time. We are all keeping lU. Members of the team send their regards to their relatives and friends over there.”
