The Governor-General, Viscount Galway, yesterday Inspected the Christ’s College cadet corps at the college, Christchurch, and later attended the Metropolitan Trotting Club’s meeting at Addington. Last evening he was the guest of the Christchurch Returned Soldiers’ Association at the annual conversazione, and afterwards he attended the Officers’ Club ball. Viscount Galway will pay an official visit to the New Zealand Industries Fair to-morrow evening and on Saturday morning will leave for Dunedin by air. Mr Paul Latham, of Wanganui. Is adjudicating at the annual Central Taranaki drama festival at Stratford. Mr F. G. Farrell was unanimously nominated by the council of the Automobile Association (Auckland) last night for re-election as president. Mr F. Hall-Jones, of Invercargill, district governor of Rotary in New Zealand, who has been attending the world conference of Rotary at Nice, will return to the Dominion ibis month. Sir Stenson Cooke, general secretary of the Automobile Association, Great Britain, and a vice-president of the International Tourist Alliance, will arrive in New Zealand next March on a short visit. Messers. H. Gilmer, D. S. Clark, J. Sutherland, A. Tudhope (Palmerston North), R. H. Cullen (Hastings), E. Walls (Wellington), J. E. Cairns and J. Marsen (Auckland) are at the Midland Hotel. Mr Lewis de Gielgud, under-secre-tary general to the League of Red Cross Societies, which has its headquarters in Paris, will arrive on September 20 and will spend a month touring the Dominion and giving lectures on the work of the Red Cross. Messrs J. A. Lambert (Dunedin U P. Charlton (Hastings), A. Lvnskey, J. Sutton, W. S. Emmett, R. S. Burton, J. B. Callaghan (Wellington), J. J. Rapier (Maratai), S. Davis, G. Stenborg, J. R. Dunningham and E. Dawe (Auckland) are at the Hamilton Hotel.
