FLOWER SHOWS.

HAMILTON SOCIETY. DATEB FOR COMING BEASON. SPRING FIXTURE NEXT MONTH. The following dates have been decided on for the Hamilton Horticultural Society’s shows during the coming season: —Spring Show, Wednesday and Thursday, September 15 and 16; Summer Show, Wednesday and Thursday, November 24 and 25; Autumn Show, Wednesday and Thursday, February 23 and 24, 1938; Chrysanthemum Show, April 27 and 28, 1938. The shows will, as usual, be held in the Alexandra Hall, Anglesea Street. Owing to the favourable season It is expected that there will be an excellent display of daffodils at the Spring Show next month. Mr. Allen Gibson, of Marton, the well-known daffodil grower, has kindly consented to officiate as Judge at this show. The Fortieth Anniversary. As the year is the 40th anniversary of the foundation of the sooiety, it is fitting that it should be suitably commemorated and efforts In this direction will be made to endeavour to make the Summer Show an outstanding one. In addition to competition for the Douglas Cup for roses a very handsome bowl has been donated by the directors of the Waikato and King Country Press Limited for competition in the anniversary cut flower ■class. The schedules are now in the printers’ hands and will be available to members and exhibitors in the course of a few ’days.
