PLUNKET SOCIETY.
HAMILTON BRANCH. The monthly meeting of the Hamilton branch of the Plunket Society was held in the rooms on Friday, the president, Mrs N. E. Blomfleld, presiding. The nurses’ reports were read as follows: Hamilton District—New cases for month, 21; breast fed, 14; partially breast fed, 1; artificially fed, 6; visits to rooms, adults 491, babies 426, older children 62, total 979; visits to homes, 72; advice to expectant mothers, 2. Frank ton District. —New cases for month, 14; breast fed, 12; artificially fed, 2; visits lo rooms, adults 191, babies 182, older children 25, total 398; visits to homes, 77; advice to expectant mothers, 1. One premature baby was put into hospital in Auckland. All other cases visited -are progressing satisfactorily. Flower day will be held on September 17, when stalls will be erected for the sale of goods outside the Hamilton Library. A special effort will be made towards the funds of the society, and gifts of cakes, flowers, vegetables and preserves will be much appreciated by the committee. Gifts may be left at the Plunket rooms. A brief but interesting report of the addresses delivered at the provincial conference held in Auckland on August, 2 was given by Mrs Blomfleld to members of the committee.* Special mention was made of Dr. Tweed’s address on the pre-natal care of mothers. During the month Miss Fitzgibbon, nursing adviser In the society, visited the Hamilton branch on her way to the provincial conference. She was j very pleased with ilie nurses’ reports land progress of the branches. Mrs Rlom field was re-elected as delegate to the Dominion Council.
