LAW DINNER.
HAMILTON SOCIETY. ATTORNEY-GENERAL PRESENT. A feature of the first annual dinner of the Hamilton branch of the' New Zealand Law Society at the Hamilton Hotel was the wide representation of members from the country districts. The president, Mr C. L. Mac Diarmid presided and the guests included the Attorney-General, the Hon. H. G. R. Mason, Mr S. L. Paterson, S.M., Mr F. W. Platts, District Coroner, Dr H. G. Tod, representing the British Medioal Association and Mr G. S. Clark, Registrar of the Supreme Court. The toast of the' Benoh was proposed by Mr Mac Diarmid and was replied to by Mr Paterson. In replying to the toast of the Bar, proposed by Dr Tod, Mr Mason gave an interesting description of the functions of the Bench and Bar and the part they played in maintaining law and order.
