DEATH OF ACTRESS.
LADY TREE PASSES. FATAL SEQUEL TO OPERATION. United Press Assn.—Elec. Tel. Copyright. LONDON, August 7. The well-known actress Lady Tree, widow of Sir H. Beerbohm Tree, famous actor and manager, has died after an operation. Lady Tree, who was born In 1864. was a daughter of Mr William Holt. Marrying Sir H. Beerbohm Tree in 1883, siio received her first professional engagement in tlie same year, appearing ns Jenny North croft In "Sweethearts” at- the Gaiety Theatre, London. She afterwards won success in a great variety of parts In plays. On two occasions she appeared at Royal gatherings by command—at Balmoral in "The Bed Lamp” in 1894, and at Windsor Castle in "A Man’s Shadow” in 1909. Viola Tree, the actress, is one of her three daughters.
