TENNIS PLAYER ABUSED. LONG TROUSERS FOOLISH. United Press Assn.—Elec. Tel. Copyright. (Received August 9, 11 a.m.) LONDON, August 8. The tennis player, H. W. Austin, addressing Hull Rotarians, said he had received much abuse, chiefly by letter, because he wore shorts. “ Long trousers for tennis are foolish,” he said. “ Tennis to-day is a strenuous game. I see no reason why players should go on the courts as if they were going to a garden fete."
