MEAT IN BRITAIN

FROZEN OR CHILLED. LAMB MARKET VERY FIRM. LATEST SMITHFIELD QUOTATIONS WELLINGTON, Monday. The market for lambs at Smith-field last week was very firm, with improved prices for heavy-weights, according to the weekly report of the New Zealand Meat Producers’ Board. Chilled hindquarters were firmer, with fores slightly easier. Firmer conditions existed for New Zealand porker pigs. Baconers met with good inquiry, but prices were nominal owing to short spot stocks.
