FROZEN OR CHILLED. LAMB MARKET VERY FIRM. LATEST SMITHFIELD QUOTATIONS WELLINGTON, Monday. The market for lambs at Smith-field last week was very firm, with improved prices for heavy-weights, according to the weekly report of the New Zealand Meat Producers’ Board. Wethers were firm with a good demand, and ewe prices have advanced owing to an improvement in consumption. In frozen beef the market for fores was weaker, with hindquarters unchanged. Chilled hindquarters were firmer, with fores slightly easier. Firmer conditions existed for New Zealand porker pigs. Baconers met with good inquiry, but prices were nominal owing to short spot stocks. Following are the latest quotations announced by the board, together with the values ruling at the close of the previous week: — Frozen Mutton.
