ACCIDENTS & FATALITIES.
CYCLIST KILLED. AUCKLAND, Saturday. Mr Phillip George Lingard (23), single, of Rlverhead, while oycllng on the Helensville highway last evening collided with three pedestrians. Thrown from his machine with the back of his head striking the bitumen, he sustained injuries to which he succumbed in a quarter of an hour. BERIOUSLY INJURED. AUCKLAND, Saturday. Mr Arthur Lloyd (74), of Newton, was knocked down by a taxi last evening and suffered severe head injuries. His condition is fairly serious. Mr Francis Gilbert Mellor (22), single, is in hospital in a serious condition as the result of lieing thrown from his bicycle yesterday afternoon. BTRUCK BY TIMBER. AUCKLAND, Saturday. Mr James Smith (SS), married, of Grey Lynn, employed as a tooxmaker was struck on the head by a piece of timber and suffered severe injuries. His condition Is fairly serious. Edna Maureen Kyle (4£), of Grey Lynn, is In hospital in a fairly serious condition as the result of a blow on the head. FALL FROM A LORRY. MAORI’S FATAL INJURIES. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) GISBORNE, Saturday. Falling from a lorry on which he was travelling to Omaio as a member of the Tikitiki football team, a Maori, Mr. Pakura Taukoko (25), married with one child, was fatally injured yesterday afternoon. While the lorry was proceeding down Potaka Hill Taukoko was affected by sickness and leaned over the side. The vehicle gave a sudden lurch and caused him to fall and he was crushed between the lorry and a bank, receiving injuries from which he succumbed in a few minutes.
