The Pan-American Airways Clipper left Foynes, Ireland, at 4.19 a.m. today for Newfoundland. Captain Harold Gray, commander of the Clipper, in an interview prior lo his departure, said the real objects of the daylight crossing of the Atlantic was to study the working of the radio ■system during daylight, it would be necessary to work on a different wavelength. Captain Gray said ho hoped to investigate a number of things on the trip which should yield valuable data.
