Weizmann, President of the Jewish Agency for Palestine, urged the Zionist Congress to negotiate on the basis of the British plan, provided the Jews were awarded a new section in Jerusalem, given absolute independence in the new Jewish State and were guaranteed that areas for Jewish colonisation would he provided within the mandated territory.
