MEETING AND SOCIAL.

COUNTIES’ ASSOCIATION EVENING. The Birmingham and English Counties’ Association held its monthly meeting and social in Toorak Hall recently. Mr J. T. Reid presided over a large number of members and friends. A varied programme was presented. The first part of the evening was devoted to community singing ami competitions, followed by a delightful comedy sketch, “ All Nice ami Friendly," given by Mesdames Cook, Terry, and Halberg, of Nawton-Roto-kauri; Highland dancing by Miss B. Hutchinson, songs by Mr J. Reid, and accordion selections by Messrs Sinclair and Whitehead, all of which were very much appreciated. J Supper was then served by the | (Continued in next column.)

hostesses, Mesdames Feusome and Barnsdale, after which dancing was enjoyed and was brought to a conclusion with “Auld Lang Syne."
