When cleaning windows adcl a little vinegar to the water; it will rapidly remove all fly marks, and make the glass shine beautifully. When no brown sugar is available, an excellent substitute can very quickly be made by mixing one teaspoon of cocoa to one cup of white sugar. If your silver kid shoes are looking slightly shabby, try rubbing them over with a smear of cream of tartar. It will give them an extra special shine. To remove the smell of paint, from a newly-decorated room, put pails of water, to which have been added sliced lemon and a block of camphor, or a tablespoon of ammonia in the room and leave for 24 hours. Scrubbing buckets are difficult to keep clean, but if a rag sprinkled with kerosene is rubbed round the inside before scrubbing is commenced, it will be only necessary to wipe the bucket out with paper when the work is finished. If your leather handbag is looking very shabby, try this easy way of miraculously improving its worn appearance. Make a mixture of one part vinegar to two parts of boiled linseed oil. Apply this with a piece of old rag. and when it, has been thoroughly absorbed by the leather, finish off by polishing with a soft cloth. After baking or frying seasoned meat, or frying fish, clarify the fat right away. This can he done without any trouble if you have a piece of charcoal handy. Place the charcoal In the dish or pan, and allow to re - main for a few minutes; this absorbs all taste of seasoning, or fish, and the dripping can 'be poured into your dripping .jar. It is a good idea to put aside some pieces of charcoal far this purpose
