COUNTRY STOCK SALES.
QUOTATIONS AT TE AWAMUTU. The Farmers’ Co-operative Auctioneering Company, Ltd., report that at their three-weekly Te Awamutu stock sale yesterday the sheep entry comprised hoggets and a line of soundmouth ewes in lamb to Southdown rams L for which competition was keen and prices remained firm at recent rates. A good entry of beef met with a strong demand at recent advanced prices. Fat steers offered on account of Mr Len Kay, Korakonul. averaged £i 1 10s, while light Polled Angus steers from Mr N. J. Lethbridge, Korakonul, sold at £lO 17s 6d. Prime heifers from Mr W. McGee realised from £9 11s to £9 19s with prime cows on account of the same vendor selling to £9 ss. Prices up to £9 7s were received by Mr J. Cavanagh for a line of w’ell-flnished cows and heifers. A medium entry of fat and boner Jersey cows sold at unchanged rates. A few pens of yearling Jersey heifers sold under keen competition at satisfactory rates. A full yarding of dairy oattle was offered to a representative bench of buyers, and although nothing outstanding in quality came forward, a total clearance was effected at firm rates. The dairy cow section w*as fully represented with local and outside entries. The advertised cows ex Raetihi, although lacking in condition, fully ipalntained rates equal to other sales. There was a small yarding of fat pigs, and a large entry of stores and weaners. Fats again sold well, while stores and weaners fully maintained late rates. A line of breeding sows on account of a client met with keen competition, and prices ranged from £4 10s to £5 17s 6d. Prime hoggets made 309 to 32s 6d; •white-face ewe hoggets, 335; fat hoggets, 23s to 24s 2d; store whiteface hoggets, 225; cull hoggets, 15s 4d; sound-mouth ewes, running with Southdown rams, 365. Cattle: Medium prime Polled Angus steers, £lO 17s 6d to £ll 4s; medium prime Shorthorn, £ll 2s 6d to £l2; fat Jersey, £8 15s to £lO 12s 6d; prime Polled Angus heifers, £9 11s to £9 19s; prime Polled Angus cows, £8 to £9 ss; heavy Shorthorn heifers and cow's, £8 7s 6d to £9 7s; extra heavy second quality £7 10s to £8 16s, heavy seoond quality £6 7s 6d to £6 19s; v*ry prime Jersey, to £7 13s; young prime Jersey, £6 5s to £6 t9s; fat Jersey heifers, £5 8s to £7 7s; Polled Angus runners, to £5 6s; f.o. fat cows, £4 10s to £5 2s; boners, £2 2s to £4; empty two-year Jersey heifers, £3 to £3 14s; Jersey yearling. £4 4s; Jersey-cross yearling, £3. Dairy cattle: One good quality heifer made £l2 10s; best Jersey and Jersey-cross heifers, close to profit, £7 10s to £9 10s; crossbred Jersey heifers, close to profit, £6 15s to £8; medium quality and backward, £4 i:.s to £6; calved, £5 10s to £7; quality Jersey cows, £8 10s to £lO 10s; Jer-sey-cross cows, £6 10s to £8; backward and poorer quality, £4 5s to £6.
