DAIRY YEAR

MEETING AT TATUANUI. TATUANUI PRODUCERS. OUTSTANDING SEASON. (Times Representative.) MORRINSVILLE, Thursday. ” The past season has been outstanding as far as climatic conditions have affeoted production and seldom has a better season been experienced In the Waikato,” said the chairman, Mr W Darrall, in addressing the annual meeting of the Tatua Co-opera-tlve Dairy Company, at Tatuanui, toComparatlvely little advance had been made in perfecting the produots during the season, said the speaker. However, it was pleasing to have had a report from Professor Riddet, who had stressed the importance of maintaining the supplies to Britain. Otherwise the place of the Dominion's produots would be taken by produce from other countries whloh were ready to step in. Should this happen, a valuable market would be lost to the Dominion. “A movement has recently been made with a view to more Intensive grading and to paying a premium on all highest class bacon pigs,” continued the speaker. “Provided that the premium could be paid. to the grower, a considerable advance would probably be made in baoon quality, but some diffloulties will have to be overcome before that end Is attained.” Three Directors Re-elected. The annual report and balancesheet (previously published) were adopted. Messrs. J. M. Allen, J. Baker and A. J. Luxton, the retiring directors, were re-elected unopposed and Mr T. j. Ryan was re-appointed as auditor. A considerable amount of discussion followed concerning the fixation of the directors’ honorarium, and the chairman commented that many of the other companies had decided to increase the remuneration to the directors. Mr J. Baker expressed the opinion that the present basis of remuneration was inequitable and should be revised. The time had come when the chairman and directors should receive more for their services. As an amendment to a motion put forward by Mr Rushton to the effect that the honoraria should remain the same as in past years, Mr Baker moved that the chairman’s honorarium be £75 per year, the directors to receive one guinea per meeting. The amendment was carried. Commenting on the recommendation that a dividend of 24 per oent he paid on paid-up capital.. Mr R. J. Stewart proposed that the directors consider the advisability of raising the interest on paid-up capital to 3 per cent next year. Mr Stewart’s recommendation was lost.
