EXPORTS TOTAL £64,621,000. VALUE OF IMPORTS, £50,076,000 The value of New Zealand commodity exports measured in New Zealand currency, as shown by the returns of overseas trade for the 12 months ended June 30, was £10.902.000 greater than for the similar period ended June 30 last year. It exceeded the corresponding total for t lie production year 1934-35 by £21.667,000. Imports at £50.076,000 were £10.017.000 higher than in 1935-36 and £15.774.000 above the level of the production year 1934-35. The only comparable figure in the past eight years was that for the 12 months ended June 30. 1930. when imports were valued at £49.295.000. In the 12 months corresponding with the season of production and export the value of exports has been £64.621.000. compared with £53.659,000 last year. It is by far and away the greatest in the past eight years, exceeding by £15.179.000 the total for the 1933-34 seasen. when high prices ruled for wool. Imports have increased very greatly above the low point of the depression years, registered in 193132. The figure for that season, £2 4.655.000, has been more than doubled by tins year’s total of £50.076.000. The figure for 192930. when imports exceeded exports in value by £3.326,000, has now i> ee » outstripped.
