GRAIN AND PRODUCE. THE AUCKLAND MARKETS. AUCKLAND, Wednesday. A further rise in the price of potatoes from the South Island is a feature of grain and produce during the past week. Potatoes.—Whites have been advanced by 10s to from £lO to £lO 5s a ton, through store, while reds are 5s higher at from £lO 10s to £lO 15s a ton. The market continues firm. Onions.—The market is firm and prices have risen to from 16s to 17s 6d per cvvt, through store. Fowl Wheat.—The market is steady nt Ihe unaltered through store quotation of from 7s 3d to 7s 5d a bushel, and supplies are meeting with a readv demand. Maize.—Selling through store at last week’s price of from 6s 5d to 6s 7d a bushel. Barley.—Ttic market is firm and latest through store quotations show no alteration on last week’s level of (ts 6(i a bushel, for clipped. <>ats and Chaff.—The position of chaff lias steadied since a weaker tendency was noticed last week. Only a limllcd amount of business is being done at. the unaltered rate of £lO 5s a ton through Business in oats is very quiet. The through store price has been maintained at last week’s level of 5s 4d a bushel. Bran and Pollard.—The price of bran locally has been advanced by 5s a ton and now ranges from £lO 10s to £lO 15s a ton. through store. The value fixed by the Wheat Committee is unchanged at £7 a ton, with supplies very short. There is steady demand for bran at the unchanged price of £6 15s a ton, through store.
